Self-Guided Tour: The Golden Circle

For cyclists with touring experience, you can discover Southeast Alaska and the Yukon by bicycle on your own schedule and leave the professional planning for your tour to us. Let us provide you with all the necessary equipment and arrangements to bike the Golden Circle at your own pace, carrying our gear.

We will arrange for you to spend your first night in Haines, Alaska at a nearby B&B or hotel. You will rest in comfort, within walking distance to our shop, the ocean, grocery stores, museums, and restaurants serving fresh, local cuisine. Spend the afternoon exploring our beautiful town and preparing for your ride. You will need to pack your own bike and purchase enough groceries to sustain you through the first 160 miles of spectacular wilderness to Haines Junction in the Yukon Territory, Canada.

In Haines Junction, you intersect the Alaska-Canadian Highway and travel 100 miles to Whitehorse, the capitol of the Yukon. From Whitehorse you soon turn south to explore the Klondike Highway to its terminus in Skagway, Alaska. A warm bed and refreshing shower will welcome you at a Skagway B&B or motel. Spend the evening exploring the historic district and reliving your Golden Circle adventure. In the morning you will leave our bike and camping equipment at our shop in Skagway.

Along the route, you will camp and cook using the gear we have provided. You will have the option to stay at lodging facilities in some areas. This 7-day ride (plus a day each in Haines and Skagway) traverses 360 miles of the most magical and scenic country in the world. For the independent adventurer this is a great way to explore the region by bicycle on your own.

Cost:
$850 plus 5.5% local sales tax for 1 person
$1300 plus 5.5% local sales tax for 2 people

Included:

• Specialized hybrid touring bicycles equipped with front/rear racks, 4 panniers and handlebar bag for 9 days
• Bicycle repair and first aid kit, bear spray
• Camping equipment (tent, sleeping bag, pad, cook kit, camp stove)
• One night lodging in Haines
• One night lodging in Skagway

Additional expenses:

• Transportation to Haines and from Skagway
• All meals (with the exception of B&B inclusive meals)
• Any additional lodging along the Golden Circle route
• Transportation or emergency service along the the Golden Circle route
• Extended days (>7) on the route for bike rental and gear
